Visionary leaders, innovators and changemakers reveal why adaptability – not power or perfection – is the defining leadership skill of our time.
“Survival of the fittest” is often misunderstood. Darwin’s principle was never about physical strength, but about adaptability. The species that survive are not necessarily the strongest, but the ones most capable of evolving with changing environments.
But adaptability should never be confused with being directionless. The strongest leaders evolve with the world around them while staying deeply connected to their values, identity and true north.
This was exactly the focus of the League of Leading Ladies Conference 2026 under the theme: “The Chameleon Effect – Survival of the Flexible?”
At the Victoria-Jungfrau Hotel & Spa in Interlaken, international leaders, innovators and changemakers came together to discuss leadership, future skills, AI, resilience and the power of human connection. One idea became clear throughout these two inspiring days: true leadership means embracing transformation without losing yourself.

A chameleon can change its colours — but it always remains a chameleon. Perhaps this is the most important lesson for leaders today: adapt to change, embrace complexity, but never lose your true north.
