I am delighted to be featuring Julia Heuer, one of the most distinctive creative voices shaped by Switzerland’s rich textile tradition. She began her career as a textile designer for the renowned St. Gallen-based company Jakob Schlaepfer before founding her own eponymous label. Today, Julia is known for her bold colour combinations and signature hand-pleated textiles created using the arashi shibori technique, which bring a playful yet artistic energy to contemporary fashion.
Although now based in Paris, Julia’s roots in Swiss textile design remain central to her aesthetic – a blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and individuality. Her pieces feel like wearable art, full of movement, joy, and expressive character. Including her in this edition feels especially meaningful, as she represents the exciting creative talent nurtured by Switzerland’s textile heritage while flourishing on the international stage.
