Terry Tempest Williams is an award-winning American author, environmentalist, educator, and activist whose work explores the intersections of ecology, social justice, public lands, and human relationships with the natural world. Often described as a „citizen writer,“ she combines lyrical prose with advocacy, showing how environmental issues are inseparable from questions of ethics, democracy, and justice. Williams is the author of seventeen books, including the landmark memoir Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place and her recent work The Glorians: Visitations from the Holy Ordinary (2026). Until recently she served as Writer-in-Residence at Harvard Divinity School and is widely recognized for her expertise in environmental humanities, conservation, and creative nonfiction.
